Packaging development & implementation

Packaging that works on the line, in the hand, and in the return loop.

PSL develops structural formats, material changes, reuse systems, and the technical decisions around machinery and suppliers. We stay involved through prototypes, testing, approval, and production launch.

Where most conversations begin

Development starts when a packaging ambition has to survive physical reality.

01

A concept needs to become a pack

The intention is clear, but geometry, closure, material grade, supplier brief, and manufacturability have not been resolved.

A specified direction ready for prototypes and quotations
02

Reuse or refill needs a real system

The format must work through filling, use, return, washing, inspection, and repeated cycles—not only look plausible in a presentation.

03

A change has to run on existing equipment

A new material or format must work with the filler, capper, label, case packer, logistics, and quality requirements already in place.

What you can get from PSL

Technical work that ends with a packaging solution ready to implement.

01

Structural development

Geometry, closure, material, component, and format routes for rigid, flexible, and fibre-based packaging.

02

Reuse and refill formats

Formats designed around filling, dispensing, return, washing, inspection, nesting, and repeated use.

03

Material substitution

Alternatives assessed against barrier, shelf life, processing, quality, end of life, and cost.

04

Machinery and line decisions

Compatibility reviews, equipment requirements, supplier dialogue, and coordinated line trials.

05

Specifications and supplier briefs

The requirements, tolerances, material grades, drawings, tests, and decision criteria suppliers need.

06

Prototype to launch support

Prototype coordination, external testing, first-article review, trials, approval, and early production support.

How PSL works

A development process built around evidence—not the first attractive idea.

The number of routes depends on the brief. Each viable route is compared against the same criteria, so feasibility, performance, sustainability, and cost stay visible throughout the decision.

01

Constrain

Define the product, equipment, consumer, supply chain, compliance, cost, and performance boundaries.

02

Develop

Create distinct technical routes and compare them using one evaluation framework.

03

Prove

Coordinate prototypes and the appropriate performance, consumer, and production tests.

04

Industrialise

Complete specifications, align suppliers, run trials, close issues, and support launch.

Packaging development & implementation FAQ

Plain answers to the questions that decide whether this is the right fit.

01 · Do you design packaging graphics?

PSL works on structure, materials, components, performance, production, and the requirements the graphic design must respect. We can brief and collaborate with your brand or design agency.

02 · Can you work with our current suppliers and machinery?

Yes. Existing suppliers, converters, equipment, and internal engineering teams are part of the development context. PSL provides an independent technical view and coordinates the interfaces.

03 · Does PSL conduct every test directly?

PSL defines the evidence needed, prepares test requirements, and coordinates appropriate laboratories, suppliers, converters, or line trials. Responsibility and sign-off are made explicit for each project.

04 · When should we involve PSL?

Ideally before a format or material is committed. Early involvement keeps more options open, but PSL can also diagnose a stalled development, supplier disagreement, failed trial, or machinery decision.
